Institute for Research and Innovation in Health joins the FLAVIVACCINE project
The Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde – i3S) has joined 10 other partners in the FLAVIVACCINE project, a collaborative effort to develop a vaccine candidate against flaviviruses.
i3S is a private, non-profit research institute based in Porto, Portugal, integrating researchers from various schools of the University of Porto. The institute focuses on three main research areas: cancer; infectious diseases, immunology and regeneration; and neurobiology and neurologic disorders. Its transdisciplinary approach enables researchers to explore the molecular and cellular foundations of life, investigate disease mechanisms, and develop advanced tools for diagnostics, screening, and therapy.
With 64 research groups, around 850 researchers, and three Clinical and Diagnostic Platforms, i3S plays a vital role in advancing biomedical science in Portugal and internationally. Within the FLAVIVACCINE project, the contribution will come from its expertise in immunology and molecular biology, to identifying immunogenic proteins and designing vaccine candidates, supporting the project’s mission to tackle emerging viral threats.
